13. Finding the Strength to Keep Going

When things get hard, the first thing I ask myself is Why am I doing this? Going back to the core helps me find my true north, brings all the daily struggles into perspective and allows me to see what my life would be like if I stopped. What would it be like for the people I want to impact with my business?

I take note of how my life has changed thanks to the work I do and I wonder if I want to go back to that which brings busyness and “secure” check-to-check existence.

A few years ago I had an opportunity to join the “workforce” again. Go back into the classroom and do what I’d done before I began creating the work I’m doing.

Suddenly, I felt almost this physical pain for all the things I now love doing — writing, interacting online, sending out newsletters, empowering people I don’t know personally — and I couldn’t bring myself to leave these behind.

So these days when things get tough I remind myself that I can do hard things, and I just do them. I step into the unknown and trust that God will part the waters for me.
